Biography
Dr. Barry is a chronic disease epidemiologist and Assistant Professor at UConn Health’s Center on Aging, with a primary appointment in the Department of Psychiatry. Dr. Barry received her B.A. in Psychology and a Certification in Gerontological Studies from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA, and subsequently received a Masters in Public Health degree and a Doctoral degree in Epidemiology and Public Health from Yale. She completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Clinical Epidemiology and Aging-Related Research at Yale and was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at the Yale School of Medicine before coming to UConn Health Center in July 2011.
Dr. Barry’s research interests include the epidemiology of depression over time in older persons, the interface between mental health and physical disability in older persons, and risk factors for depression and suicide-related behaviors in older persons who are either currently in prison or have been released from prison in later life.
